Phase II Capital Project Update

Phase II 2016 Capital Project Update: 64% Complete. 
Honeoye Falls-Lima Central School District continues to work with its construction management, architectural, and engineering firms in creating modern and safe spaces for students, faculty, and the community as the District continues to construct Phase II of the Capital Project. Each month the Board of Education receives an update from Campus Construction, the District's construction management firm. These presentations occur within the agenda of the first meeting of each month. The link below provides access to all Board of Education meetings and agendas for the past three years.

HFLCSD's Proposed Phase II.V Renovations Capital Project The District's Proposed Phase II.V Renovations Capital Project is being presented to the community at a Public Hearing on December 10, 2019, at 7 p.m. The project vote date is set for December 17, 2019.


HF-L Seeking Bus Drivers

HF-L Nordic Ski Swap and Sale

 

The HFL Nordic Ski Swap and Sale will take place on November 23, 2019, from 9 am – 1 pm at the Honeoye Falls-Lima Middle School on Quaker Meeting House Road, Honeoye Falls. The sale, which has been held for the past 26 years, has often been called “The Largest One Day XC Ski Sale in New York State.” The public is encouraged to bring in used cross country ski equipment and clothing to consign for the sale the evening of November 22, 2019, from 7-8:30 pm. Money made from the sale of used equipment will be returned to the seller less than 15% to support local children's’ and Section V High School Nordic Programs and nordic trail grooming efforts. The public sale will open at 9 am on November 23, 2019. Used cross country equipment, demo equipment, and clothing will be available in the cafeteria till noon. New Nordic equipment and clothing from ski shops around New York State will be available in the gym till 1 pm. High School skiers will be on hand to hot wax cross country skis for a nominal fee. Bindings will also be mounted on-site for an additional fee.

Implementing Technology

Schoology is an award-winning Learning Management System (LMS) that allows teachers to maintain a web presence, post-course content, create calendar events for assignments, expand communication methods with students, and establish online learning communities.  Schoology also serves as an educational hub for students to participate in online discussions with classmates, submit assignments online, store digital resources, and keep daily tasks organized. HF-L's Teaching, Learning, and Technology Council chose Schoology as the District's Learning Management System in the spring of 2018. 

HF-L teachers continue to explore ways to incorporate Schoology into their classes.

Benincasa Volunteers Needed

Benincasa: a two-bed home, for the terminally ill, is in need of caregivers to provide resident care. This special home is in the Hamlet of Mendon. (RT. 64 and RT. 251) We provide compassionate comfort care to residents and assist their families during this difficult period. No experience is necessary, we will provide all training. Senior students/College students, retirees, men, and women all are welcomed. Consider signing up with a friend. Come and visit us. Honeoye Falls Fire Department's Annual Turkey Raffle

The Honeoye Falls Fire Department is hosting the annual Turkey Raffle on Friday, November 22, 2019, at 7 p.m. at the Fire Hall. Free admission and refreshments. This is a fun event for the entire family. We hope you will join us.

Mendon Public Library Events

  • Teen Game Night Thursday 12/5/2019 7:00 PM - 8:00 PM Middle and HS Students are invited to join us for a Teen Advisory Board Game Night! We'll be playing Mysterium, which plays like Clue for a group. We'll have special representatives from Just Games here to help us! Free, but, please call to reserve your spot.
  • Game Time at Mendon Public Library Friday (12/27), Saturday (12/28), and Monday (12/30) during open hours. We'll have board games and a life-sized Candy Land Game for all to enjoy. Free. Stop, visit, play!
  • Monday, LEGOS Plus Stories, Every 3rd Monday (10/21, 11/18 and 12/16), 4:30-5:30 pm (Kids 6-12 yrs old) Children ages 6-12, join Miss Lisa every third Monday of the Month this Fall for LEGO Plus Stories.
  • Tuesday, Story Time, Every Tuesday, 10- 10:30 am (Toddlers to Preschool with parent or caregiver) Stories and more to encourage early literacy, a love of books and being read to, following simple directions, taking turns, being part of a group, and being a good listener. Registration not required.
  • Paws to Relax, 2nd and 4th Tuesdays, 6:30-7:15 pm (Kids to Adults welcome) Drop in and spend a few minutes with a therapy dog. If we have enough eager readers present, Miss Nettie will also read a book. Registration not required.
  • Wednesday, Firefly Friends, Every Wednesday, 10-10:35 am (Children Ages 2-5 yrs old with parent or caregiver) Firefly Friends is geared towards helping little ones to shine bright lights and includes stories, songs, and crafts. Classes to be led by Jennifer DeVille Catalano. Registration required.
  • Preschool Story Time, Every Wednesday, 1-1:45 pm (Older Preschoolers with parent or caregiver) An extended Story Time for older preschoolers. Stories and more to encourage literacy, a love of books and being read to, following simple directions, taking turns, being part of a group, and being a good listener. Registration not required.
  • Thursday, Building Buddies, Every Thursday, 10-10:30 am (Children Ages 1-4 yrs old with parent or caregiver) This combination story time and playtime fosters early literacy, social skills, creativity, fine motor skills and parallel play among young children. Registration not required.
  • Friday, Story Time, Every Friday, 10-10:30 am (Toddlers to Preschool with parent or caregiver) Stories and more to encourage early literacy, a love of books and being read to, following simple directions, taking turns, being part of a group, and being a good listener. Registration not required.
  • Saturday, Story Time with Miss Nettie, Every 4th Saturday (10/26, 11/23, and 12/28), 11-11:30 am (Preschoolers and Early Elementary School with parent or caregiver). Join Miss Nettie for this Saturday storytime. Children and adults alike will stay amused during this time that encourages early literacy, a love of books and of being read to, and good listening. Registration not required.
  • For adults, we offer: Technology Training Tuesdays, 10:00 AM-1:00 PM
  • Wednesdays, 4:00-7:00 PM Laptops, tablets, e-readers, iPads, and more. Have a question? Come to a FREE, one-on-one training session to get answers and learn how to do it yourself. Call 624-6067 for an appointment; walk-ins welcome if space allows.
  • The Knit Nook Second and fourth Thursday beginning September 12, 10:00-11:30 AM This knitting group is all about fellowship and outreach. Learn to knit a simple project or bring one that's in progress. The Knit Nook is open to all knitters: people who can join us at our Thursday (2nd & 4th) sessions or those who knit at home. We are constantly updating and restocking our pattern and supply bin located at the library. Join us in knitting and creating, and even donate to our "Keep Rochester Warm" initiative. We'll be gathering handmade items every fall to share with those in our community who need some extra warmth.
