2016 Lead Water Testing Results

November 3, 2016

Dear Honeoye Falls-Lima CSD Families,

In light of recent reports and concerns regarding water quality in area school districts, Honeoye Falls-Lima CSD has been working with Leader Professional Services throughout the spring and summer to test water quality in fixtures throughout our district. The district recently received initial water testing results from the district's school buildings and wanted to provide our families with an update on the findings.

Honeoye Falls-Lima CSD submitted 273 samples for testing. All samples taken were "first draw." It is important to note that the majority of those samples were below the currently acceptable level for lead in water, which is 15 parts per billion (ppb). However, following these initial tests, the district did find fixtures at four schools that had readings near or above the standard of 15 ppb. A summary of those initial findings greater than 15 ppb is as follows. (Click on each site for the full report.)

The health and safety of Honeoye Falls-Lima CSD's students, faculty, and staff continue to remain our district's top priorities. The district has followed all protocols and recommendations in conjunction with Leader Professional Services, as described above.

Honeoye Falls-Lima CSD will continue working with Leader Professional Services to test water for lead in all fixtures used for cooking, drinking, or general consumption every five years, in accordance with recent legislation passed by New York State. Under the new legislation, schools are required to report all lead test results to the NYS Department of Health via a statewide electronic reporting system. Honeoye Falls-Lima CSD will continue to follow the same protocols that were established throughout our previous, proactive water testing.

A copy of Honeoye Falls-Lima CSD's final water testing report for each area as well as a Q & A document is embedded into this letter and is also available as part of the Quick Link options to the left.

Sincerely,

Gene Mancuso

Superintendent of Schools
